Former Soldier Claims Rape and Retaliation at JBLM

A report from KIRO TV in Washington State, reposted to Portland Indymedia, revealed that a former soldier at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) military base claims rape and retaliation at the hands of senior JBLM personnel, and retaliation by Army investigators after she reported the crimes against her.

KIRO TV stated that the former JBLM Soldier maintains "Army investigators retaliated against her", and that she was threatened by supervisors, who told her: “We are going to dishonorably discharge you. You are talking way too much. You are a soldier wearing a uniform. You have to obey any orders given to you, even though that order can cause death.”

Portland Indymedia reported corruption in the JBLM Police Department, saying: "JBLM Police are some of the most corrupt and abusive of any law enforcement agency. Military Police Investigators have manufactured evidence, entered false statements into police reports and submitted perjured testimony to the Courts. JBLM Police abuse their authority, target victims of abuse, and cover-up misconduct by senior personnel. This report by KIRO-7 News is just one more example of JBLM Police Corruption!"

Similar sexual misconduct and cover-up was reported on JBLM in 2019. The Seattle Times reported that a JBLM soldier’s wife says she was targeted and betrayed after reporting that she was being subjected to sexually explicit text and voice messages for almost a month despite asking more than once that the messages stop.
