A guide to direct action and the Animal Liberation Front (3rd edition)

Some groups, such as ALF, engage in direct action in support of their cause and in opposition to oppressive government and corporate activities. (The ALF guide is in an 'imposed format' intended to be printed and bound into a booklet; because of this some pages appear out-of-sequence when read on-line.)

Other groups, such as Earth First!, take direct action to protect animals as can be seen in their Wolf Hunt Sabotage Manual.

We neither advocate nor support the use of violence and destructive actions, but we understand that there are those who do. For example, in the early 1980s, the right-wing Reagan U.S. Government was determined to undermine or overthrow the leftist government of Nicaragua. As part of this campaign, the Central Intelligence Agency produced a small illustrated booklet in both Spanish and English designed to destabilize the Nicaraguan Government and economic system.
